His Current Favorite Song
The Baron had a god damned good memory. He remembered the name of his kindergarten teacher and the scent of her 80′s perfume. They don’t make them that piercing anymore. The teachers or the perfumes. He remembered his third pet. Usually people remember their first. He remembered every make and model of the car his father drove during his life of 27 years old. And his father always leased. The Baron, also, was able to recall every song he’s ever loved, and not liked or simply bobed his head to, but loved. And that playlist goes into the hundreds.
He didn’t have photographic memory. He was a regular dude. Named, The Baron. But his insane memory of songs was due to the fact certain songs reminded him of certain memories. The lyrics didn’t come easy to him. He had to listen to it over and over and over and over again just to get the first line in rhythm with the second. and he would listen to it over and over and over again until he memorized the whole song, until he could sing it just like the artist. Because maybe one day, he’d be able to draw upon the emotions associated with the memories the song provoked. And he did. And he was. Able to, that is.
The most enjoyable part of songs is trying to learn the words. This new one was named, Anna Lisa Kristina.
“They don’t make them that piercing anymore. The teachers or the perfumes.” that struck me. not sure why but it did.
